Job Description

The Fresh Market currently has an opening for an Associate Category Manager, CMS/Deli at our Corporate Office in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Associate Category Manager will assist Merchandising and Operations to achieve goals for Sales, Gross Profits, and overall direction of the department.

Responsibilities

  • The essential part of the job is Deli/CMS Category Management
  • Ability to assist with program development and updating current programs
  • Will assist in vendor negotiations and selection
  • Help maintain ingredient and nutritional files through the Esha database
  • Maintain Cost Files and Vendor Guides
  • Assis with Ad development/projections and Ad maintenance
  • Maintain inventory forms and procedures
  • Partner with current distributors to maintain in-stock conditions
  • Maintain item list on Periscope Production Planning
  • Run ad-hoc microstrategy reports as needed to help understand business needs
  • Communicate daily with stores to answer inquiries and assist as needed
  • Creativity in product development and merchandising

Essential Functions

  • Requires out-of-town travel on occasion
  • Ability to travel by automobile or airplane
  • Able to work with Deli employees, Deli Managers, Store Managers, Operations, and Corporate Staff
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • Strong merchandising skills
  • Understands all aspects of safe food handling
  • Serv Safe or equivalent certification, preferred
  • Microstrategy skills and report building

The Associate Category Manager will be expected to lead by example and create a warm, inclusive, and safe environment for our employees and vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of Operations experience and exposure to the CMS/Deli department
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, every changing work environment
  • Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships within and outside of The Fresh Market
